DQ: What would spirituality be according to your own worldview?
Spirituality is approached differently by different people. However, I believe my spirituality helps me realize and have a deep conviction that there is something greater than myself. Furthermore, I believe that the world and everything God has placed on it are divine. As a result, my life’s purpose is to achieve my goals without oppressing others. When it comes to helping those who are suffering, Christian doctrine emphasizes loving one another and always being compassionate (Pozgar, 2020). One way of reflecting on man’s salvation history is to experience worldly challenges.
I am also very interested in my surroundings. I am convinced that environmental health is one of the critical elements that we as caregivers must begin to consider when addressing public health issues. Maintaining a clean environment is a preventive measure for limiting disease spread. Carrying out public awareness campaigns on environmental health issues, particularly in congested areas, would strengthen our role as educators and advocates for human health.
Without a doubt, a caregiver’s worldview influences how they interact with and support those who use health care systems. As a caregiver, I should be willing and ready to provide equal services to everyone who requires medical care. The formation of a positive or negative attitude toward a patient is primarily determined by the worldview of the withheld caregiver (Ochs, 2020). My nursing career, I believe, is a divine vocation from God to alleviate the worldly miseries that humans face. Because of my strong faith in God, I am also required to contact the facility’s chaplaincy in order to support my patients. The integration of science and spirituality is also recognized in holistic caregiving. Encouraging my patients that illness is a part of life that we must face and overcome courageously has resulted in the majority of my terminal patients regaining their strength in record time.

Taking into account that spirituality is defined as “a dynamic and intrinsic aspect of humanity in which individuals seek ultimate meaning, purpose, and transcendence, as well as experience relationships with self, family, others, community, society, nature, and the significant or significant others.
DQ How would you define spirituality in your own worldview?
“Spirituality is expressed through beliefs, values, traditions, and practices,” and “(GCU 2020), I define spirituality as any kind of relationship a person has with a higher power. Additionally, living in a way that is uplifting or rewarding. Personally, I believe in God, go to church, and pray. My understanding of spirituality would influence how I care for patients by providing personable care. I would not judge patients who believe that praying will aid in their healing or provide spiritual and mental support. I’ll be open to accommodating and supporting their beliefs and practices. Patients, I believe, have the right to request that members of their faith participate in their care and healing. I will treat patients with dignity, respect, and empathy. If they ask me to pray for them, I feel at ease telling them that I will.

Kelechi Mbalewe’s Replies
Spirituality is the belief in the existence of something larger than yourself. This manifests itself through ideas, values, traditions, and customs. A worldview is a set of beliefs about what reality is and how to interpret what happens in the world. According to Bogue and Hogan (2020), worldview is the intellectual and philosophical lens through which humans comprehend and interpret existence and life events, giving meaning and purpose to one’s existence. Theism, pantheism, and atheism are among the categories. I believe in God.
As a Christian, I believe in God and the Bible as God’s word. The word tells me that God is love, that He made man in his image and likeness, and that if I love God, I must first love my neighbor. “For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: Love your neighbor as yourself,” says Galatians 5:14. (New International Version).
Shelly and Miller (2006) state that “caring for others is not intrinsic to human nature” (p. 248) when describing Christian caring. They argue that Christian nurses are able to “see patients with great value, dignity, and worth” because of our response, gratitude, and acceptance of God’s grace and care. Nursing is all about compassion. To promote a positive outcome, care for the patient completely, taking care of their physical needs while not neglecting their spiritual needs.
