Observation early intervention program (50 points)  (3 to 4 pages long)This assignment requires you to observe an early intervention program/class (infants & toddlers).

Due to COVID 19 restrictions, it will not be possible to observe them in person. Instead, you will watch the 4 videos below to answer the questions listed below the last video.

Observe the children’s 4 developmental domains:

 

Physical domain:

1. Describe the overall’s children’s physical skills (gross/fine motor) (Eg. Were most of the children ambulatory, did they all have appropriate coordination and balance? How did they explore the environment? Use of walkers, wheelchairs, etc…). Make sure to provide 4 examples, one per video.

 

Socio-emotional domain:

1.What types of play did you observe? (solitary play? Exploratory? Constructive? (Links to an external site.) Provide 4 specific examples one per video. If you click on solitary, exploratory and constructive hyperlinks above, you will see the definition.

2.Overall, did you see observe one type of play being more or less prevalent than others? Be specific and Explain your answer

 

Cognitive domain:

1.What did you see the children learning or practicing? (gross, fine motor, language, self-help skills, etc.) Provide 4 specific examples, one example per video Language development:

1. Expressive Language ( what children are able to express or how they communicate)   How do the children express themselves? (using sign language, pointing, nodding, equipment, single or complex sentences? Provide 4 specific examples (one per video). Be specific.

2.Receptive Language ( how much children are able to understand language): Are the children able to understand a basic conversation, follow one or two step commands? Provide 4 specific examples, one per video

3. What  is your overall reaction to all the videos observed?

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.

Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.
