Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program Responses Discussion

1) I am completing my BSN at this time for job security. At my current job I am grandfathered in because when I was hired, I had been a RN for more than two years, but most hospitals are requiring their nursing staff to complete a BSN within five years of hire. My husband’s career path could have us move at any time in the next couple of years and I feel I need to be prepared. I am currently at a hospital that reimburses almost all of my tuition needs so I figure now would be the best time to do it. I am not going to lie I am absolutely terrified to go back to school it has been almost ten years since I have written a paper. APA formatting is new to me as well.

One of my main concerns is time. I am a mother, wife, nurse and I am president of MantyDance competition Inc. which is a fundraising committee. Managing my time will be a challenge. I will need to plan ahead for assignments and study time. Allowing for a little time each day to review and work on assignments. I will need to have a master schedule to keep track of school and work and family commitments. (Murphy, 2015) Having educational goals to keep me motivated, asking question, keeping myself informed, managing my time and being responsible for my studies will help me be successful in pursuit of my BSN.(Lake & Baeyer, 2005)

2)I am completing my BSN now for mainly 2 reasons, first one is I have also known I wanted to get my BSN and two, it is required at most hospitals. I also knew that I did not want to wait to long after I graduated to begin again because I didn’t want to lose motivation. My biggest concern right now is time management. I am a new grad starting my first RN job on night shift. I worry about completing my tasks for school while I am also trying to become accustomed with my new work schedule. I am also a little bit worried about taking 5 week courses online, since it was been awhile since I have had online classes. Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program Responses Discussion

After the readings, I believe I can work on trying different things to be a successful student. The time management tip will really help me, I need to set a few hours each day in my schedule to complete assigned work. I also need to be proactive with my work and avoid distractions. I used to go to my college campus to complete course work when I felt distracted but now that is not an option for me. I have set up a work space for myself in a separate room in my house, so I believe this will help.
