Discrimination of Gender Equal Pay for Men and Women Essay

Discrimination of Gender Equal Pay for Men and Women Essay

Every day that women labor, they are exploited. The salary disparity between men and women costs a woman $1.2 million throughout her career. There has always been a wage disparity between men and women. It has really dropped over many decades, but there is still a significant pay disparity between men and women today, which has to be addressed. Many people are unaware that there is a wage disparity between men and women; nonetheless, this disparity should not be overlooked. In fact, women deserve equal compensation because a woman’s salary is no longer a secondary income, a woman’s work is not less valued than a man’s, women are not less educated than men, and employers and companies enable discrimination to occur.

One of the reasons for the original salary disparity between men and women is because of this. It was untrue back then, and it is untrue now. Women are capable of carrying out the same tasks as males. “In a second study by the same authors, 40 women and 40 men were paid first and then instructed to complete as much labor as they considered suitable for the amount they had received,” Lalive and Stutzer write. Women worked longer hours, made fewer mistakes, and produced more” (937). This demonstrates that a woman’s work is just as valuable as, if not more valuable than, that of a male. Women worked harder and longer in this study, which is why they should earn equal pay… Please show more material…

Companies, enterprises, and, most importantly, employers are now the source of the wage disparity. Wal-Mart is an example of a firm that discriminates against women. “Female Wal-Mart employees hold the majority of the lowest paying hourly jobs,” according to Leutwiler and Kleiner (102). Because of their gender, they are employed in the lowest-paying positions. It’s a case of discrimination based on gender. Companies do not place the same value on women’s work as they do on men’s. That is unethical behavior. “…male-dominated occupations pay more than female-dominated occupations,” it’s been remarked many times (Leutwiler and Kleiner 106). Employers are the only explanation for the greater compensation in male-dominated occupations. Employers contribute to the wage disparity. Companies place a higher value on a man’s job than a woman’s. It is not just one article that argues this because England states: “For example, if secretaries are paid less than janitors, it may be because businesses pay secretaries less than janitors.”

Description

For the past several years, the topic of equal rights for persons with any gender identity. For this assignment, please explore the topic of discrimination based on sex, gender, or sexuality. Please select on issue to examine related to discriminatory practices against persons based on their biological or chosen identities. Examples of paper topics could include: transgender military ban, marriage equality, equal pay for men and women in the workplace, gender neutral restrooms, and single sex educational institutions. Be sure to discuss the arguments raised by those who support and oppose equal rights.

The Equality Act 2010 says that you must not be discriminated against because you are transsexual, when your gender identity is different from the sex assigned to you when you were born. For example:

  • a person who was born female decides to spend the rest of his life as a man

In the Equality Act it is known as gender reassignment. All transsexual people share the common characteristic of gender reassignment.

To be protected from gender reassignment discrimination, you do not need to have undergone any specific treatment or surgery to change from your birth sex to your preferred gender. This is because changing your physiological or other gender attributes is a personal process rather than a medical one.

You can be at any stage in the transition process – from proposing to reassign your gender, to undergoing a process to reassign your gender, or having completed it.

The Equality Act says that you must not be discriminated against because:

  • of your gender reassignment as a transsexual. You may prefer the description transgender person or trans male or female. A wide range of people are included in the terms ‘trans’ or ‘transgender’ but you are not protected as transgender unless you propose to change your gender or have done so. For example, a group of men on a stag do who put on fancy dress as women are turned away from a restaurant. They are not transsexual so not protected from discrimination
  • someone thinks you are transsexual, for example because you occasionally cross-dress or are gender variant (this is known as discrimination by perception)
  • you are connected to a transsexual person, or someone wrongly thought to be transsexual (this is known as discrimination by association)

Intersex people (the term used to describe a variety of conditions in which a person is born with a reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn’t fit the typical definitions of female or male) are not explicitly protected from discrimination by the Equality Act, but you must not be discriminated against because of your sex or perceived sex. For example:

  • if a woman with an intersex condition is refused entry to a women-only swimming pool because the attendants think her to be a man, this could be  or

You could also respond to these as it would count towards your required SIX discussion posts for the week.

I understand this is a lot of information to cover in 5 weeks, however, the Bible says in Philippians 4:13 that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us.
