Overview Of Assignment
You have completed an analysis of the lenses as they relate to one of the three topics we are working on in this course: voting rights, climate change, and justice. Now, to help you apply the lenses to your chosen topic, you will work on a KWL analysis.
For this assignment, you will complete a KWL analysis, which details what you know, what you want to know, and what you have learned about a topic, analyzing it through each of the lenses. Before you begin, read the provided resources for your chosen topic in the library guide.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
For the topic you selected (voting rights, climate change, or justice), determine the following:
Know (K): Draw on previous personal experiences to provide information about what you already know about your topic in relation to each lens.
Want to know (W): Determine what you want to know about your topic in relation to each lens. Be sure to phrase this information as questions. What keywords would be helpful in exploring your topic?
Learned (L): Answer the questions you posed about your topic using the provided resources in the library guide. If they are not answered by the resources, explain what steps you will take to answer them.
Guidelines for Submission
Submit your analysis of the questions above. Your submission should be a Word document, one to two pages in length, with 12-point Times New Roman font, double spacing, and one-inch margins.
Pervious Assignment:
As far as this discussion is concerned, the selected topic is voting rights. It is an essential topic that is worth examining since by looking at it, essential insight into what it entails will be gained. It is also a broader topic and one which has been debated about since its and it has continued to gain tremendous changes and advances over the centuries, (Johnson, 2014). Regarding what I know about this topic so far, it is essential to argue that I am aware of every person being entitled to cast his or her vote whenever eligible but as it will be discussed below, certain individuals have been denied these rights despite being eligible or being entitled to vote.
The other important aspect to examine regarding this topic is the personal interests/experiences that shaped the choice of the above topic at the expense of the other topics. As mentioned above, certain individuals have been denied their rights, especially in the United States despite being eligible to vote and having attained the required age for doing so. Specifically, the blacks and people like the female gender had been denied their voting rights and this forms the basis of individual experience and interest for choosing the topic. The reason is that such instances are interesting to examine and this makes the topic to be highly interesting for one to choose.
Several questions may be meaningful for exploring the above topic. One of them is what are some of the voting rights that an individual may be entitled to? The other question is what led to the declaration of these voting rights? There is also a question such as why would a person be denied his or her voting rights despite having been eligible to vote? The above questions are meaningful since by trying to answer or research about them, then an increased insight into the topic will be gained.
