ASSESSMENT 2: PROJECT FUNDING PROPOSAL SCAFFOLD
Proposal Writing
A project proposal is a document used by community organisations to propose an intervention to a problem. Project proposals must summarise a problem or area of need, show the project aims, how you plan to achieve them and how you are going to evaluate the effectiveness of the project.
Content
The content of a project proposal should convince the reader there is a problem and that this project can help address it. Each section of the proposal has a specific function. The introduction explains the “why” of the project – why is this project necessary? The context section may include background information, an explanation of the relevance or importance of the problem, and a discussion of previous related work by others (i.e., literature review from credible sources).
The aims/goals is the “what” of the project – what do you want to achieve? This section should state clear and specific objectives, the scope of the project, and the beneficiaries of the project. The budget, timeline and staffing sections are the “how” of the project – how will this project be implemented? These sections should include a detailed timeline of activities/tasks, an estimate and breakdown of the funds/resources needed, and an overview of the project team and their roles.
The evaluation section should state the success criteria of the project and the methods and timing of monitoring and evaluation.
Structure
Project proposals use headings and subheadings which give structure to your
writing by telling the reader what to expect.
You will need to apply APA 7th ed. formatting for all headings. Visit this link to see the format for each heading level.
Creating Tables and Figures
The most important principle to follow when creating tables and figures is to present information in a way that is easy for readers to understand. When creating a table, place entries that are to be compared next to each other. An embedded table may take up an entire page; if the table is short, however, text may appear on the same page as the table. In that case, place the table at either the top or bottom of the page rather than in the middle. Also add one blank double-spaced line between the table and any text to improve the visual presentation. Click the link to see sample of demographic characteristics table in APA7 format. Any kind of visual display that is not a table is considered a figure/diagram. Click on this link to see sample figures.
Bullet Points
Bullet points and numbered lists should be used sparingly. A bullet point list needs to be introduced using part of a sentence with a colon (:) and written so that each point fits in grammatically with the introductory sentence. Click on this link to see more information on formatting bulleted lists.
Note: There are different ways you can structure this assessment.
The structure outlined below is a suggested approach for your
PROJECT PROPOSAL.
