Goal

  • Using the information from your Homework B spreadsheet, create an e-Poster to present the results of your analysis to a Clinical Council of your peers.

Format

  • For this homework you will create a virtual poster (e-Poster) using PowerPoint and submit it electronically. Though this poster could be printed out for in-person presentation, for this homework you will only create the electronic version and turn it in as an attached PowerPoint file.
  • This homework MUST be formatted as a Poster per the template (). A PowerPoint slide show will NOT be accepted and will be returned to the student for re-formatting and re-submission in the appropriate Poster format with late penalties applied.
  • The directions for using the template are on the template itself. You may rearrange the formatting of the poster including arrangement of sections, size of sections, color, fonts, etc. so long as you maintain a professional appearance and the poster is easily readable from 10 feet away. The SPC graphics and affiliation line MUST be included somewhere on the poster. Be sure to replace the template photos (Figures 1 & 2) with your own chosen images representing the poster topic specifically.

Grading

  • You will be graded on the professional appearance of your poster as well as your ability to explain how and why the analysis was done, identify the pattern of variation, and logically explain what might account for it. At a minimum, you must include the content listed below in the ‘Content’ section.

    • Include an appropriate title and the name(s) of the persons creating the poster.
  • Background
    • Explain why an analysis of this type is important. Support your points with scholarly evidence with APA compliant citations and references (minimum of 2 scholarly references other than the text).
  • Purpose and Methods
    • Explain why the data was collected and what the intended purpose of the analysis is.
    • Explain briefly how the data was collected (including the time period covered), how it was assembled, and how it was analyzed.
  • Results (What did your analysis show? At a minimum include answers to the following questions.)
    • What are the patterns in the data?
    • What is the takeaway message? Explain how you determined this: be specific!
  • Conclusions
    • Explain what the implications of your findings are for nursing practice both clinically and managerially. State what actions are preferred and why.

HCAHPS provides a comparison of patient experience across all hospitals and provide a national standard of collecting and publishing these scores. (HCAHPS, 2019). These scores are also use for organizations to look into the customer service being provided and to implement changes that might be needed. These results are public and can influence the status of the respected hospital as well as funding provided by the government as scores are influenced by it. (HIMMS Analysis, 2017). Q4 Q5 Q6 Q7 Q8 Q9 Results Purpose and Methods Background Q3 Questions Based on the information provided, the analysis shows that each unit varies in the average score they received on each questions. To elaborate, there was an overall score of 1.1 in each units, the geriatric unit for cleanliness of their environment, the stroke unit for being listen to by Doctors, and the oncology for not being helped in a timely manner after pushing their call light. Another pattern that was noted is that the overall means for each quarter has increased on each unit as the year progress. The message that was be taken away from this data is that each unit have a particular strong areas in which they thrive. They are also noted to have shown weak areas as listed above in which they need improvement. Fixing these weak areas can improve This data was collected to analyze patient experience during their hospital stay. The purpose of this analysis is to see what aspect of the HCAHPS survey is affecting the scores given on each unit, recognize what specific changes need to be made and to implement those changes. Implementing the changes that seem necessary for each unit will result in better patient experience, increase in HCAHPS scores, better public status and keep the organization financially strong. This information was collected each quarter on three different units over an entire year. Clinically, staff members needs to be in-service on patient satisfaction and how they affect HCAHPS scores. Management should reinforce answering call lights promptly and patients being treated with the dignity and respect they need. Most facilities now have five minutes maximum on answering call lights and always encourage staff to take care of the issue if they answer the call light whether they are assign to the patient or not.
