In this discussion, you will share your understanding of how the five levels of analytical capability will affect the two major areas of fiscal and operational, and clinical and patient safety. Additionally, be sure to address the following:
- Based on your reading assignments include some of the defining descriptive and predictive analytics that will affect the future of “big data” in health care. Considering the current factors affecting the future of analytics in health care may be related to meaningful use, the accountable care organizations (ACO), and the protection of patient privacy. The use of analytics in healthcare has revolutionized the system by increasing the efficiency with which services are delivered. According to Raghupathi and Raghupathi (2014), running healthcare activities based on scientific methods gives rise to more accurate and dependable outcomes. Moreover, the adoption of analytics in healthcare will go a long way in achieving the dream of a value-based care. The system focuses on; achieving a streamlined and efficient support staff, providing actionable data that can influence decision making, ensuring faster report generation and distribution, fostering access of data and security protocol as well as building a sustainable information technology infrastructure.
Effects of the Five-levels of Analytical Capability
Through providing a dashboard set of data, the clinical and patient safety is achieved. The data is helpful in fostering faster decision making processes with regard to the conditions of patients. Additionally, clinical and patient safety is achieved through the provision of data access and security protocols. Security protocols ensure that no unauthorized user can gain access to data pertaining to the patients hence curbing any eventualities of malicious conducts (Belle, Thiagarajan, Soroushmehr, Navidi, Beard & Najarian, 2015). Also, the operational activities of the healthcare facility have improved the use of analytics. The system ensures that support staffs are effective through streamlining their activities in the various departments in which they work.
Effects of Descriptive and Predictive Analytics and the Future of Healthcare
The success or failure of big data application in health facilities depends significantly on descriptive and predictive analytics. The descriptive method entails the explanation of past phenomenon using real time as well as historical data. This analysis helps in informing management on how to handle the future. Predictive analytics, on the other hand, affects big data in that it analyses trends in data to inform managers on possible future occurrences. Evidently, healthcare analytics is likely to be adopted by every healthcare institution as it offers an effective scientific based structure of managing the institutions. Additionally, the analytics foster patient privacy by offering data protection hence limiting access to their information to the relevant medical practitioners.
In conclusion, it is important to embrace automation in healthcare systems to achieve evidence-based care. Additionally, it will go a long way in achieving more effective management of the healthcare operations. Moreover, it fosters a more streamlined healthcare system across all the facilities.
