Description

Personality texts generally cover from 12 to 18 personality theorists. For this task, you will preview your text. Begin by selecting 12 of the major personality theorists and/or personality theories reviewed in your text. Then, for each theorist or theory that you have identified, address the following in a chart:

Discuss the place in time of the theorist or theory (i.e., what was happening in the world at the time the theory was introduced that assists in putting its importance in understanding human behavior in perspective).

Summarize the main components of the theory including the main terms utilized and their definitions. If you are discussing a theorist, be sure to name the psychological school/perspective, philosophy, or system in which the text places the theory (e.g., The Cognitive/Interpersonal Viewpoint).

Then, conclude with a summary of which personality concepts that you believe are most relevant today.

Assignment Personality Theory Chart Worksheet

What is this thing we call personality? Consider the following definitions, what do they have in common?

“Personality is the dynamic organization within the individual of those psychophysical systems that determine his characteristics behavior and thought” (Allport, 1961, p. 28).

“The characteristics or blend of characteristics that make a person unique” (Weinberg & Gould, 1999).

Both definitions emphasize the uniqueness of the individual and consequently adopt an idiographic view.

The idiographic view assumes that each person has a unique psychological structure and that some traits are possessed by only one person; and that there are times when it is impossible to compare one person with others. It tends to use case studies for information gathering.

The nomothetic view, on the other hand, emphasizes comparability among individuals. This viewpoint sees traits as having the same psychological meaning in everyone.

This approach tends to use self-report personality questions, factor analysis, etc. People differ in their positions along a continuum in the same set of traits.

We must also consider the influence and interaction of nature (biology, genetics, etc.) and nurture (the environment, upbringing) with respect to personality development.

Trait theories of personality imply personality is biologically based, whereas state theories such as Bandura’s (1977) Social Learning Theory emphasize the role of nurture and environmental influence.

Sigmund Freud’s psychodynamic theory of personality assumes there is an interaction between nature (innate instincts) and nurture (parental influences).

For your response post, you do not need references as personal experiences would count as response posts. If you however cite anything from the literature for your response post, it is required that you cite your reference. You should include a minimum of THREE references for papers in this course. Please note that references should be no more than 5 years old except recommended as a resource for the class. Furthermore, for each discussion board question, you need ONE initial substantive response and TWO substantive responses to either your classmates or your instructor for a total of THREE responses. There are TWO discussion questions each week, hence, you need a total minimum of SIX discussion posts for each week. I usually post a discussion question each week. You could also respond to these as it would count towards your required SIX discussion posts for the week.

Social workers recognize that the dimensions of diversity are understood as the intersectionality of multiple factors including but not limited to age, class, color, culture, disability and ability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, immigration status, marital status, political ideology, race, religion/spirituality, sex, sexual orientation, and tribal sovereign status. Finally, be sure to include content related to knowledge about evidence-informed interventions to achieve the goals of clients and

constituencies. Social workers understand theories of human behavior and the social environment, and critically evaluate and apply this knowledge to effectively intervene with clients and constituencies by analyzing and implementing evidence-informed interventions to achieve client and constituency goals.
Support your assignment with at least three scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including seminal articles, may be included.

Determinants of mental health and mental disorders include not only individual attributes such as the ability to manage one’s thoughts, emotions, behaviours and interactions with others, but also social, cultural, economic, political and environmental factors such as national policies, social protection, standards of living, working conditions, and community support.

Stress, genetics, nutrition, perinatal infections and exposure to environmental hazards are also contributing factors to mental disorders.

Health and support
Health systems have not yet adequately responded to the burden of mental disorders. As a consequence, the gap between the need for treatment and its provision is wide all over the world. In low- and middle-income countries, between 76% and 85% of people with mental disorders receive no treatment for their disorder.2

A further compounding problem is the poor quality of care for many of those who do receive treatment.

In addition to support from health-care services, people with mental illness require social support and care. They often need help in accessing educational programmes which fit their needs, and in finding employment and housing which enable them to live and be active in their local communities.

Domestic violence (also called domestic abuse or family violence) is violence or other abuse that occurs in a domestic setting, such as in a marriage or cohabitation. Domestic violence is often used as a synonym for intimate partner violence, which is committed by one

of the people in an intimate relationship against the other person, and can take place in either heterosexual or same-sex relationships or between former spouses or partners. In its broadest sense, domestic violence also involves violence against children, parents, or the elderly. It can assume multiple forms, including physical, verbal, emotional, economic, religious, reproductive, or sexual abuse. It can range from subtle, coercive forms to marital rape and other violent physical abuse, such as choking, beating, female genital mutilation, and acid throwing that may result in disfigurement or death, and includes the use of technology to harass, control, monitor, stalk or hack.[1] [2] Domestic murder includes stoning, bride burning, honor killing, and dowry death, which sometimes involves non-cohabitating family members.

Globally, the victims of domestic violence are overwhelmingly women, and women tend to experience more severe forms of violence.[3][4] They are also likelier than men to use intimate partner violence in self-defense.[5] In some countries, domestic violence may be seen as justified or legally permitted, particularly in cases of actual or suspected infidelity on the part of the woman. Research has established that there exists a direct and significant correlation between a country’s level of gender equality and rates of domestic violence, where countries with less gender equality experience higher rates of domestic violence.[6] Domestic violence is among the most underreported crimes worldwide for both men and women.[7][8] In addition, due to social stigmas regarding male victimization, men who are victims of domestic violence face an increased likelihood of being overlooked by healthcare providers.[9][10][11][12]

Domestic violence often occurs when the abuser believes that they are entitled to it, or that it is acceptable, justified, or unlikely to be reported. It may produce an intergenerational cycle of violence in children and other family members, who may feel that such violence is acceptable or condoned. Many people do not recognize themselves as abusers or victims, because they may consider their experiences as family conflicts that had gotten out of control.[13] Awareness, perception, definition and documentation of domestic violence differs widely from country to country. Additionally, domestic violence often happens in the context of forced or child marriages

Introduction

To offer high-quality healthcare, healthcare professionals must be culturally competent, which guarantees they are aware of and respect the various beliefs, values, and customs of the many cultural groups they work with. In this essay, we will examine the cultural aspects of the Asian American community, focusing on several areas, including health practices and beliefs, family dynamics, interpersonal communication, spatial and temporal orientation, dietary patterns, pain responses, childbirth and perinatal care, death and dying, spirituality, religion, faith, prayer, and meditation. Discussed will be the greater understanding of the Asian American cultural group and how it will affect nursing care for this community.

Health Practices and Beliefs

Along with Western treatment, Asian Americans frequently follow traditional medicine and holistic practices. Healthcare professionals must comprehend this dual viewpoint (Park, 2020). For instance, qi (life force) and ideas like balance and harmony are important in Asian conceptions of health. In addition, many Asian Americans could favor acupuncture or herbal medicines as supplemental therapies.

Family Structure

Asian American cultures place a strong priority on family, and healthcare decisions are frequently made in groups. Since the family may be integral to caregiving and support, healthcare providers must include them in talks and decisions (Han, 2021).

Style of Communication

Asian Americans may communicate differently from the majority culture. They could be quiet and reluctant to express discomfort or distress publicly. In addition to fostering open communication and being mindful of cultural conventions, providers should pay close attention to nonverbal clues (Tsong et al., 2021).

The Direction of Space and Time

Asian cultures may have distinct ideas about personal space, and some may feel uncomfortable in close quarters. Since punctuality is highly prized in this culture, healthcare professionals should adhere to it to foster confidence (Tsong et al., 2021).

Patterns of Nutrition

Although Asian American diets vary greatly, they frequently include lean foods, rice, and veggies. Healthcare professionals must be knowledgeable about cultural dietary choices and constraints, such as vegetarianism or the avoidance of particular foods for religious reasons (Han, 2021).

Pain Reactions

Culture can impact how people express their sorrow and use coping techniques. Some Asian Americans could be stern and reluctant to express their grief, while others might turn to complementary treatments like acupuncture. In order to measure and manage pain effectively, it is essential to comprehend these variances (Patallo, 2019).

Birth and Postpartum Care

Asian societies frequently follow traditional customs, including confinement and postpartum nutritional restrictions. Healthcare professionals should know these customs and have respectful cultural conversations with expecting moms and their families (Patallo, 2019).

Dying and Death

The cultural perspectives of Asian Americans on death and dying vary. While some people would prefer to pass away at home, surrounded by their loved ones, others could choose Western medical treatments (Patallo, 2019). Healthcare professionals must ask about end-of-life desires and ensure that patients receive treatment suitable for their culture.

Religion, spirituality, belief, supplication, and meditation

Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic, Christian, and other religious and spiritual practices exist in Asian American communities (Park, 2020). Many people may incorporate daily rituals like prayer and meditation into their lives. Healthcare professionals should respect these customs and offer assistance as required.

The Effect of the Knowledge

Learning about the Asian American culture offers important insights into how to give treatment sensitive to cultural differences. Healthcare professionals can modify their strategy by:

  1. Honoring Cultural Beliefs: Recognizing the significance of traditional medicine and holistic practices in Asian cultures and incorporating them as necessary.
  2. Involving Families: Consciously including families in medical choices and actively supporting and educating family caregivers.
  3. Effective Communication: Paying attention to communication styles, especially nonverbal cues, and fostering an atmosphere where patients feel free to voice their concerns.
  4. Respecting Personal Space Preferences and Being Punctual: To develop rapport and trust with patients, adhere to punctuality.
  5. Nutritional Considerations: Making dietary advice and limitations conform to cultural tastes and religious convictions.
  6. Pain Management: Individualizing pain assessment and management techniques to account for different pain manifestations and preferences for complementary therapies.
  7. Cultural Sensitivity in Perinatal Care: Providing culturally sensitive maternity, delivery, and postpartum care while honoring customs and preferences.
  8. End-of-Life Care: Starting conversations about preferences for the end-of-life and honoring decisions about the setting and interventions.
  9. Provide support and accommodations for spiritual practices, including prayer and meditation, to improve patients’ general well-being.

Finally, recognizing the distinctive characteristics of the Asian American ethnic group is necessary for delivering effective and courteous care. Ethnic competency is essential in healthcare. With this newly acquired information, healthcare professionals will be able to adjust their strategies and make sure that the care they give to their Asian American patients is in line with their cultural beliefs, values, and practices, which will eventually lead to better health outcomes and patient satisfaction.

Question 1

One of the five elements of emotional intelligence is self-awareness. What behaviors would someone with strong self-awareness demonstrate within the context of leading and managing groups? Provide an example. ( TWO PARAGRAPH ANSWER WITH TWO SOURCES APA Format)

Question 2

Today’s workforce is diverse and has multiple conflicting priorities. As a nurse leader, you would like to see your hospital implement an outreach program that will benefit needy members of the community. What are some methodologies of communication you would use to develop a shared vision with your stakeholders? How would you apply strategic management to make your visions for the outreach program become reality? ( TWO PARAGRAPH ANSWER WITH TWO SOURCES APA Format)

Question 3

You have an idea to improve patient care that you would like upper management to support and fund. What type of communication tool would you use to present your idea and why? ( TWO PARAGRAPH ANSWER WITH TWO SOURCES APA Format)

Question 4

What differentiates someone that is intrinsically motivated from someone that is extrinsically motivated? Give an example of how you would go about motivating an individual who is intrinsically motivated and one who is extrinsically motivated. What are the characteristics of a performance-driven team? ( TWO PARAGRAPH ANSWER WITH TWO SOURCES APA Format)

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.

Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.

Learning Resources on systems theory

Resources for learning about systems theory: Examine the information in this week’s Learning Resources about systems theory and the distinction between open and closed systems. Consider the practices and processes you are familiar with in your organization.

Consider the issue from a closed-system standpoint. Then consider how the issue or process you chose could be addressed from an open-system perspective. How would shifting from a closed-system to an open-system perspective help you and others address the issue and improve outcomes?

System Theory Learning Resources

Post 1 page on the Week 2 Discussion Board describing the problem you identified in your chosen organization. Explain the issue in terms of a closed system.

Important information for writing discussion questions and participation

Welcome to class

Hello class and welcome to the class and I will be your instructor for this course. This is a -week course and requires a lot of time commitment, organization, and a high level of dedication. Please use the class syllabus to guide you through all the assignments required for the course. I have also attached the classroom policies to this announcement to know your expectations for this course. Please review this document carefully and ask me any questions if you do. You could email me at any time or send me a message via the “message” icon in halo if you need to contact me. I check my email regularly, so you should get a response within 24 hours. If you have not heard from me within 24 hours and need to contact me urgently, please send a follow up text to

I strongly encourage that you do not wait until the very last minute to complete your assignments. Your assignments in weeks 4 and 5 require early planning as you would need to present a teaching plan and interview a community health provider. I advise you look at the requirements for these assignments at the beginning of the course and plan accordingly. I have posted the YouTube link that explains all the class assignments in detail. It is required that you watch this 32-minute video as the assignments from week 3 through 5 require that you follow the instructions to the letter to succeed. Failure to complete these assignments according to instructions might lead to a zero. After watching the video, please schedule a one-on-one with me to discuss your topic for your project by the second week of class. Use this link to schedule a 15-minute session. Please, call me at the time of your appointment on my number. Please note that I will NOT call you.

Please, be advised I do NOT accept any assignments by email. If you are having technical issues with uploading an assignment, contact the technical department and inform me of the issue. If you have any issues that would prevent you from getting your assignments to me by the deadline, please inform me to request a possible extension. Note that working fulltime or overtime is no excuse for late assignments. There is a 5%-point deduction for every day your assignment is late. This only applies to approved extensions. Late assignments will not be accepted.

If you think you would be needing accommodations due to any reasons, please contact the appropriate department to request accommodations.

Plagiarism is highly prohibited. Please ensure you are citing your sources correctly using APA 7th edition. All assignments including discussion posts should be formatted in APA with the appropriate spacing, font, margin, and indents. Any papers not well formatted would be returned back to you, hence, I advise you review APA formatting style. I have attached a sample paper in APA format and will also post sample discussion responses in subsequent announcements.

Your initial discussion post should be a minimum of 200 words and response posts should be a minimum of 150 words. Be advised that I grade based on quality and not necessarily the number of words you post. A minimum of TWO references should be used for your initial post.

I understand this is a lot of information to cover in 5 weeks, however, the Bible says in Philippians 4:13 that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us. Even in times like this, we are encouraged by God’s word that we have that ability in us to succeed with His strength. I pray that each and every one of you receives strength for this course and life generally as we navigate through this pandemic that is shaking our world today. Relax and enjoy the course!

Rethinking Male Circumcision

Rethinking Male Circumcision

CLICK HERE TO ORDER A PLAGIARISM-FREE PAPER

As happy parents of a newborn boy, we would carefully think about whether or not to have our son circumcised. We must consider many things, such as medical, personal, cultural, religious, and other problems. Here is a list of reasons for and against circumcision, emphasizing the things that mean most to us.

Why people get circumcised

Religious and cultural views are a strong reason why circumcision should be done  (“Circumcision: What you need to know,” 2022). This can be a strong case for circumcision if it is a sacred custom or rite of passage in our religion or culture. Others say that circumcision supports better hygiene, which could help prevent infections and keep the genital area clean. This medical factor is sometimes important to think about.

Reasons to not get circumcised

On the contrary, giving our child their freedom is very important.

When he reaches the appropriate age, he should be able to make such decisions as circumcision is a permanent change to his body. The ethical issues raised by consent and bodily autonomy should be considered (“Circumcision: What you need to know,” 2022).

Consideration should also be given to the potential hazards of circumcision, including bleeding, infection, and complications. Although there may be little risk overall, it is important to consider these options carefully. The importance of the individual decision is further emphasized by the fact that the actual health advantages of circumcision may not be significant enough to outweigh the possible hazards in light of the already available medical information (Gologram et al., 2022).

Factors That Mean a Lot:

Religious Beliefs: If our religion strongly advises circumcision, this would be a crucial consideration in our choice.

Medical Necessity: If strong medical factors make circumcision necessary, we would consider them very carefully while making our choice.

Relatively Insignificant Elements:

Social Norms: We should place our child’s welfare and autonomy above any demands or trends in the larger society.

There are significant distinctions between circumcision for men and women. While debatable, male circumcision frequently entails the removal of the foreskin, which is generally seen as less intrusive and damaging. In some regions of Africa and the Middle East, female circumcision typically involves removing the clitoris or labia, which can have serious physical and psychological repercussions (Earp, 2020). The methods used in the two practices and the degree of harm caused are fundamentally different. Although there is ongoing discussion over the morality of male circumcision, it is generally acknowledged to be less extreme than female circumcision, which is strongly opposed as a violation of human rights.

Module 4: Rethinking Male Circumcision Due No Due Date Points 20 Rationale: In this assignment, you\’ll be asked to critically re-examine the culturally sanctioned practice of male circumcision.     Instructions: Although most Americans have a strong adverse reaction to female circumcision, male circumcision is culturally sanctioned. The Intactivism PagesLinks to an external site. provide information about both female and male genital cutting. As you explore the site, make sure you look at the table comparing male and female circumcisionLinks to an external site. procedures. A brief video of male circumcision is included below, but watching it is optional. You should also search the web for information about the potential risks and benefits associated with the procedure. The National Organization of Circumcision Resource Centers isLinks to an external site.is a great starting point for your research. Once you have finished exploring the various resources, address the following prompts:    Imagine that you are proud parents of a newborn male baby and you need to make a decision regarding his circumcision. Will you decide to circumcise this child or not? Justify your decision by creating a pro/con list, citing reasons to circumcise or not. You may include information from the textbook as well as personal, cultural, religious, and other considerations. Which factors weigh most heavily in your decision-making process? Which factors do you feel are relatively unimportant?   How do you feel male circumcision differs from female circumcision (practiced in some parts of Africa and the Middle East)?

Sex and Politics

Sex and Politics

CLICK HERE TO ORDER A PLAGIARISM-FREE PAPER

The text “Sex and Politics” explores the intersection of politics, religion, and reproductive rights,  focusing specifically on the pro-life stance against contraception and its effects. In the United States, Catholic healthcare facilities, influenced by Vatican teachings, generally do not offer sterilization as a contraceptive option. Despite this, a significant proportion of Catholics choose sterilization.

Pro-life religious groups oppose various methods of contraception, considering them equivalent to or precursors to abortion. They are backing a regulatory amendment that, if passed, could criminalize certain contraceptives (“North American new right and contemporary white Nationalismʹs latest religious adaptations,” 2019). Even methods like condoms and diaphragms that prevent sperm from reaching the egg are considered offensive by some pro-life groups.

This opposition to contraception is consistent with traditional views of gender roles, in which women are expected to stay home and raise children. Contraception was seen as a threat to this traditional role because it allowed women to expand into fields typically associated with men, such as work and politics.

The impacts of this political environment are significant. This can limit access to birth control options, affecting reproductive rights. (“North American new right and contemporary white Nationalismʹs latest religious adaptations,” 2019). Additionally, religious influence on health care may limit access to certain services, conflicting with patient preferences. The debate over reproductive rights remains contentious, reflecting the conflict between religious beliefs and personal autonomy.

The resistance to contraception based on conventional sex parts raises questions about sexual orientation balance and women’s capacity to form choices around their lives and careers. This continuous battle challenges societal standards concerning women’s roles and independence. In summary, the pro-life position against contraception, affected by devout convictions and traditional sex parts, has far-reaching suggestions for regenerative rights, healthcare, and the broader discussion about sexual orientation balance.

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CLASS

Discussion Questions (DQ)

  • Initial responses to the DQ should address all components of the questions asked, include a minimum of one scholarly source, and be at least 250 words.
  • Successful responses are substantive (i.e., add something new to the discussion, engage others in the discussion, well-developed idea) and include at least one scholarly source.
  • One or two sentence responses, simple statements of agreement or “good post,” and responses that are off-topic will not count as substantive. Substantive responses should be at least 150 words.
  • I encourage you to incorporate the readings from the week (as applicable) into your responses.

Weekly Participation

  • Your initial responses to the mandatory DQ do not count toward participation and are graded separately.
  • In addition to the DQ responses, you must post at least one reply to peers (or me) on three separate days, for a total of three replies.
  • Participation posts do not require a scholarly source/citation (unless you cite someone else’s work).
  • Part of your weekly participation includes viewing the weekly announcement and attesting to watching it in the comments. These announcements are made to ensure you understand everything that is due during the week.

APA Format and Writing Quality

  • Familiarize yourself with APA format and practice using it correctly. It is used for most writing assignments for your degree. Visit the Writing Center in the Student Success Center, under the Resources tab in LoudCloud for APA paper templates, citation examples, tips, etc. Points will be deducted for poor use of APA format or absence of APA format (if required).
  • Cite all sources of information! When in doubt, cite the source. Paraphrasing also requires a citation.
  • I highly recommend using the APA Publication Manual, 6th edition.

Use of Direct Quotes

  • I discourage overutilization of direct quotes in DQs and assignments at the Masters’ level and deduct points accordingly.
  • As Masters’ level students, it is important that you be able to critically analyze and interpret information from journal articles and other resources. Simply restating someone else’s words does not demonstrate an understanding of the content or critical analysis of the content.
  • It is best to paraphrase content and cite your source.

LopesWrite Policy

  • For assignments that need to be submitted to LopesWrite, please be sure you have received your report and Similarity Index (SI) percentage BEFORE you do a “final submit” to me.
  • Once you have received your report, please review it. This report will show you grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors that can easily be fixed. Take the extra few minutes to review instead of getting counted off for these mistakes.
  • Review your similarities. Did you forget to cite something? Did you not paraphrase well enough? Is your paper made up of someone else’s thoughts more than your own?
  • Visit the Writing Center in the Student Success Center, under the Resources tab in LoudCloud for tips on improving your paper and SI score.

Late Policy

  • The university’s policy on late assignments is 10% penalty PER DAY LATE. This also applies to late DQ replies.
  • Please communicate with me if you anticipate having to submit an assignment late. I am happy to be flexible, with advance notice. We may be able to work out an extension based on extenuating circumstances.
  • If you do not communicate with me before submitting an assignment late, the GCU late policy will be in effect.
  • I do not accept assignments that are two or more weeks late unless we have worked out an extension.
  • As per policy, no assignments are accepted after the last day of class. Any assignment submitted after midnight on the last day of class will not be accepted for grading.

Communication

  • Communication is so very important. There are multiple ways to communicate with me:
    • Questions to Instructor Forum: This is a great place to ask course content or assignment questions. If you have a question, there is a good chance one of your peers does as well. This is a public forum for the class.
    • Individual Forum: This is a private forum to ask me questions or send me messages. This will be checked at least once every 24 hours.
