  5. The difference in duration between Bipolar 1, Bipolar 2 and Cyclothymic Disorders
    • A person has Bipolar I Disorder if they have manic periods for at least one week and depressed episodes for at least two weeks afterward. After manic episodes, depressed phases must occur.
    • Bipolar II Disorder is diagnosed when a person has four-day low moods and two-week depressed incidents. To be diagnosed with bipolar II disorder, both signs must be present (SOPHIA F. DZIEGIELEWSKI., 2015).
  • At least two years of hypomanic and depressed symptoms characterize Cyclothymic Disorder (SOPHIA F. DZIEGIELEWSKI., 2015). These symptoms help doctors diagnose the cyclothymic disorder. This condition’s suggested treatment takes at least two years.
  1. Main behaviors associated with Bipolar1, 2, and Cyclothymic Disorders
  • Depressive episodes in Bipolar I Disorder are defined by melancholy, exhaustion, and low energy. It differs from bipolar II. Manic episodes are characterized by elevated mood, activity, and impulsivity(SOPHIA F. DZIEGIELEWSKI., 2015).
  • Bipolar II Disorder includes hypomanic and depressed periods and less manic symptoms. This separates it from other disorders.
  • A persistent mental illness, the cyclothymic disorder causes hypomanic and depressed episodes. The condition is a cyclothymic syndrome. Understand that these periods are less intense than those in patients with entire manic or depressed states. People in whole manic or depressed states have these symptoms (SOPHIA F. DZIEGIELEWSKI., 2015). The patient is emotionally labile throughout this condition.

  • This reading increased my comprehension by emphasizing acceptance, empathy, and strengths-based assessments and treatment strategies. This event has challenged my perspective by emphasizing the importance of cultural variations in depression.

  • Medication management is necessary to control mood swings.
  • Psychotherapy, especially CBT, and psychoeducation are common treatments (SOPHIA F. DZIEGIELEWSKI., 2015).

  • Supportive therapies help clients manage their daily lives and relationships throughout mood episodes.

  1. Personal Encounter with depression

From my experience with depression and my subjective view, people in my cultural setting commonly describe feeling sad as having a “burdened heart” or being engulfed by a “veil of melancholy.” Fatigue, appetite loss, and sleep problems are common depression symptoms. My culture saw melancholy episodes as a sign of fragility; thus, people had to control their depression. Concerns about social judgment and mental health stigma may hinder people from sharing their depression with family, neighbors, coworkers, or religious communities.

  1. LGBT suicide and depression

LGBT depression and suicide are thought to be linked to discrimination, marginalization, and public censure. The LGBT community’s diverse cultural traits and societal viewpoints must be considered while diagnosing and treating them. Respectful approaches to disclosure, discrimination, and other LGBT concerns are essential for success—the need to address LGBT mental health issues.

Organizations should hold regular drills to help employees get used to this routine and how the work environment is set up. This will make them better prepared(Griebe et al., 2023).

Additionally, businesses must establish a reliable communication infrastructure that permits quick news transfer in an emergency. This can include designated persons informing staff of information, communication systems, and SMS alerts. Role of a nurse in an active shooter scenario

A nurse’s responsibilities in the case of an active shooter involve not just defending themselves but also attending to the basic requirements of their patients and fellow employees. Nursing Bullying: Root Causes and Solutions

Sadly, bullying has grown to be a severe problem among nurses. In order to successfully deal with this issue, it is critical to comprehend why bullying occurs so frequently and offer advice to both newly hired nurses who experience bullying and bystanders who observe such behavior.

Reasons for Bullying

Bullying occurs frequently in the nursing field for a variety of reasons. The high-stress levels can bring on colleague tension, demanding workloads, and the need to make crucial decisions. In healthcare settings, hierarchical systems may also encourage a culture in which power dynamics are prevalent(Hartin et al., 2020). Due to jealousy, competition, or personal fears, nurses may bully their coworkers. Realizing that you are not alone is crucial for new nurses who are being bullied. Asking role models, bosses, or HR staff for advice can be one of the most critical foremost steps. Such circumstances should be reported to the suitable authorities(Johnson & Benham‐Hutchins, 2020). Bullying cases should be documented and kept on file so that evidence may be produced if needed. In order to combat bullying, bystanders are crucial. A nurse colleague has to step in and help the victim if they observe bullying. Addressing the bully directly, reporting the act, or providing the victim with emotional support are all examples of how to do this.

Conclusion

In conclusion, resolving the problem of bullying in nursing and preparing for active shooter situations at work are essential steps in protecting the security and well-being of medical staff members and patients. Healthcare businesses may establish a safer and more inclusive work environment for their staff by implementing protocols, training, and cultivating a culture of support and respect. In turn, nurses must be informed of what to do in these circumstances, whether dealing with an active shooter or speaking out against bullying at work. The promotion of a secure and encouraging healthcare setting eventually calls for teamwork.

Abusive Male Partners

Abuse can always be physical, emotional or sexual. Healthy relationships are characterized by trust, respect and consideration for the other party while on the other hand abusive relationships involves disrespect, mistreatment, intense jealousy and physical violence. It always proves to be an exercise in futility for ladies to abandon offensive spouses due to the following reasons.

Financial constraints is one of the reasons that makes it hard for ladies to abandon their offensive spouses. As a result, some of the women may have lost their jobs making the male partners the sole breadwinners hence hard for the women to move out due to lack of finances to cater for their daily basic needs (Sharp-Jeffs, 2015). Money to cater for the young kids in the family also makes the women to stick to their male abusive partners in avoidance of exposing the kids to abject poverty.

Distorted thoughts also makes women stick to their abusive male partners. The feeling of being controlled and hurt is both heart-pounding and traumatizing at the same time which leads to self-blame and doubts. Perpetrators harass and accuse victims which lowers their self-esteem, causes despair and guilt. The victims always blame themselves for what is happening thinking they triggered the whole thing and hope their male partners will change positively making it hard for them to leave.

Damaged self-worth as a result of degrading treatment makes more women feel beaten down and of no value. They are made to believe that they are worthless and alone thus making them have the guilty feeling of having done something wrong and thus deserves what is happening to them making it hard for them to leave.

An honor society is a rank association that recognizes excellence among peers and different societies recognizes different fields and situations. Peers who demonstrate excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, character and leadership are honored.

LEAD conferences held makes it vital for the intervention of the US government. In this conferences the main aim is to improve the leadership skills and provide networking opportunities for peers across the country ( Robb, et al., 2016). By the government setting standards, the highest quality will be achieved and future visionary leaders will be developed for the better good of the country as a whole. Networking will also lead to interaction of like-minded peers who will exchange ideas which will impact positively on the country.

In conclusion government setting standards will improve the quality of state summits held. Opportunities for students to participate in leadership sessions with state leaders will be taken to higher heights with the end goal being coming up with tangible solutions to real problems in schools and the society as a whole.
