MGMT 340 Outpatient Surgery Center of La Jolla Essay

For this assignment you will choose a non-hospital healthcare facility and conduct research on the facility, as outlined below. To start your research, use online websites and the CC library to learn more about the public health issue you want to research

Part 1: You will select one non-hospital-based organization (e.g. physician practice, long-term care facility, home care agency, nursing home, minute clinic, out-patient surgery center, birthing center, public health department, hospice, urgent care facility, etc.). You will discuss the role of the healthcare facility in providing services to their consumers/patients.

Part 2: Then you will report on the issue by addressing the following:

  • Describe the healthcare facility you selected (e.g. location, population they serve)
  • Identify and discuss any external/internal factors that impact how they provide care
  • Describe the positive or negative influence of the facility on their patients’/consumers’ quality of care
  • Discuss the cost to use the services for the population they facility serves
  • Discuss the facility’s future outlook and the estimated growth of the industry.

Part 3: Conclude with your analysis on the importance of the facility to your community.

Cite your text and two (2) other authoritative sources. This paper should be a minimum of 1500 words.

Write your paper according to APA latest Edition, and include headings/sub-headings. Your completed assignment will include a title page and a reference page in APA formatting and in-text citations of your references.

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.

Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.
