ACADEMIC RESOURCE/STRATEGY 1 Academic Resource: American Psychological Association (APA) This resource will be very important for my progression in the master’s Program at Walden University. APA format is the preferred format for major research papers. By understanding the format, completing papers will become much simpler and allow me to focus on the major points instead of taking time on formatting. ACADEMIC RESOURCE/STRATEGY 2 Academic Resource: CINAHL Complete (EBSCO) “CINAHL complete is the world’s most comprehensive nursing and allied health research database, providing full text for more than 1,600 journals” (CINAHL, 2020). Research papers require up to date medical journals to validate the argument or teaching you are providing. This program is staff and students that provide tutoring, workshops, courses and writing help. This is an important resource by allowing me to focus on my weaknesses and allow somebody to help me and strengthen those areas. One of my weak areas is writing, and this would be an invaluable resource for me. PROFESSIONAL RESOURCE/STRATEGY 1 Professional Strategy: Evidence-Based Knowledge In my professional nursing practice, I must use evidence-based practice. By reviewing the evidence-based practice I will be able to provide quality care to special cases of younger and older generations, by understanding clinical situations based on relevant knowledge and information (Nln.org, 2020). Conclusion I have provided multiple professional and academic strategies that will lead to my success in the family nurse practitioner program at Walden University. Personal responsibility and accountability are encouraged in master’s level programs. Individual schools will have code of conducts pertaining to academic dishonesty and plagiarism. Plagiarism is defined as an intentionally or unintentionally using other authors work as your own, without proper citations. One of the most common types of plagiarism is using an author’s ideas without paraphrasing or synthesizing the original material (Plagiarism, 2020). If you are to produce a piece of literature, you must be able to cite and reference relevant studies to improve your argument or research. Professionals ethics is a standard that is adopted by individuals to come to conclusions on certain topics that the general population would not be able to solve. Some of those components include honesty, integrity, transparency, accountability, confidentiality, objective, respect and abiding by the laws (Anon, 2020). Scholarly ethics go hand in hand with professional ethics with the same foundation of honesty, and integrity. Some important elements that differ include informed consent for individuals participating in studies, compliance, exclusion of discrimination, and confidentiality (Asha.org, 2020). I use Grammarly often before submitting assignments to make sure that I have not unintentionally plagiarized. Since starting the program at Walden University, I have been introduced to SafeAssign, which is like Grammarly. Walden University provides this resource for students to improve their writing. There are various methods of identifying and analyzing peer-reviewed research. The first involves a limited database search for only peer-reviewed articles. This is effective for the websites that allow the user to limit the search to specific elements (Evaluating Sources, 2013). For instance, Google Scholar allows users to filter content in a range of ways. Besides that, checking the articles on the Ulrichsweb database can prove highly beneficial in the analysis of peer-reviewed content (How to recognize, n.d). The website is reputable, and it is a vast collection of information, usually presented in a detailed manner, about thousands of academic journals, articles, peer-reviewed titles, and other non-scholarly materials. Also, some articles are already indicated as peerreviewed thus making it easy for the scholar to identify them. The two strategies I found most effective in finding peer-reviewed research are using the right databases and limiting the search to peer-reviewed content only. Utilizing the right databases in searching for peer-reviewed research enables one to access the needed work easily, and depending on the databases, a plethora of articles might be available easily. Preferably, large, multidisciplinary, frequently used databases such as ProQuest and Scopus are more recommendable as compared to other databases. On the other hand, a limited search helps filter unwanted content by providing the most fitting articles depending on the specifics provided such as peer-reviewed research. Through this, I can always find quality, credible, and reliable peer-reviewed content and use it effectively.
