Iris a 78 year old lady was divorced two years ago.
Iris wasn’t blessed with children.
The lady lacks someone to talk to.
She is experiencing depression because of being divorced abruptly.
Health issues including mobility
She misses her independence because she lives in a facility that takes care of her.
Solution
Provision of a policy that will issue her stay at the allocated facility.
The policy should assist in improving her wellbeing because she is experiencing loneliness.
The policymakers should consider the above alternatives so that she gets enough time to heal and focus on their health (Zarbo, et al, 2017).
The policy should focus on restructuring health care mechanism so that low pension receivers and retirement benefits can gain something that will assist them get proper medical aid.
The medical care system should look for alternatives to increase financial incentives for low income earners to help them solve their medical expenses.
Solution
The policy should also cover for Iris to remain at the facility forever.
She should be given free will to decide on the facility.
Iris should be kept safe and healthy by not sending her to her home because she will experience depression and minimal or no care. Unless 24 hour care is an option for home car
Iris should be informed of the consequences that will arise once she chooses to go home.
The policy should provide the best solution that can help all parties affected (National Academics of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, 2018).
Alternatives or Added Steps to Take
Allow Iris to stay at her home with a caregiver.
Research on the Medicare insurance for her and sign her up for social security income.
As a policy advocate, do research on housing and insurance for Iris.
Prepare a policy proposal based on the housing need for elderly care.
Look into group home but for two residents with caretakers.
Finding ways to give options to the disabled will help them regain independence and feel better about herself.
CONCLUSION
Social employees have to advocate for the society and our patients by signing petitions, encouraging change, and lobbying.
Having a strong plan and educating the client, community, and her family on what is required to visualize the policy change.
The medical care policy can impact Iris’s life positively by taking care of her bills at the home care from individuals who love her,
Evolution of the Federal Shelter Program proposal shows that efficient policy advocates combine analytic skills in identifying, comparing, and choosing a policy category with other useful skills (Jansson, 2018).
Social employees respect and promote the client rights to self-determination and help them identify and clarify their objectives (NASW, 2017).
These changes are essential at this time because the baby boomers are getting older and will need assistance.
