Collaboration and Stewardship in Healthcare

There is dire need of reviving a sense of communal purpose among the healthcare fraternity and especially the emergency department in an attempt to restore a sense of trust from the patients. The leadership prospect of stewardship in medicine requires improved care delivery which necessitates the need to address the ever-changing nature of the work of medics.

Collaboration in healthcare can be encouraged by involving all stakeholders ranging from staff members, clinicians to the highest authority in the unit in the decision-making process. This simply means that all parties involved will give different ideas on what they think is the best thing to do to improve healthcare services which will make them feel to be part and parcel of the organization (Morley & Cashel, 2017). For instance, a hospital may be in the process of coming up with a way of dealing with ulcers. To make the staff collaborate, engage and feel excited about the whole thing, they should be involved in the whole process of purchasing the necessary machinery if any, while being allowed to give their opinions freely. By engaging them in the buy-in process, a sense of belonging and ownership will grow in them thus boosting their working attitudes for the better good of the organization and the society as a whole.

To demonstrate the domains of stewardship in healthcare, it is essential for all nurses to engage in the growth of self. This can be portrayed by planning to nurture new blood of transformational nurses. To achieve this long-lasting concept of nursing, mentors will be necessary to offer assistance in refining skills and improving competencies (Saltman & Ferroussier-Davis, 2000). Through this, positive outcomes such as safety for patients and care personnel and clarification of the caring work of the nurses will be achieved. Additionally, sound and visible role models within the organization will be available thus maintaining the balance between self and professional fulfillment.

Everybody has a role to play in any organization. Respect between senior and junior members of a health organization will bring about collaboration and portray a sense of stewardship in the organization. Whenever there is an issue people should come together and address it before it gets out of hand. Additionally, equal treatment of all in a healthcare workplace will make people join hands for the better good of society.
