Healthcare

Healthcare is part of life and is considered to be something that all people are entitled to. However, many people all over the world and especially the poor and those dealing with the devastating effects of war and conflicts do not access healthcare. Therefore they are far more at risk of diseases and malnutrition. To solve problems associated with healthcare, the U.S government came up with the Affordable Care Act.

The affordable care act inhibits insurance companies from refuting coverage to children with existing medical conditions (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2017). As a result, the poor majority can access medical cover which decreases the mortality rate. Besides, the act provides increased payment to rural-healthcare providers to keep medical care in rural societies. Those who do not get the cover are sensitized in the process and easily get the cover whenever they need it without necessarily visiting the urban areas.

The role of public policies affects changes in the distribution of services offered by the Affordable Care Act. For instance, through these policies, the premium tax credit and cost-sharing subsidies have made non-group coverage more affordable (Lee, 2014). Besides, the substantial health benefits package and coverage for preventive services without cost-sharing have made the cover more comprehensive.

Some of the social-cultural issues that play out during the issuing of healthcare covers include; unwelcoming staff attitude and complex billing system in hospitals. Also, poor interpersonal skills among hospital staff scare away patients and low self-esteem among users increases the difficulties of accessing the services.  Implications associated with the Affordable Care Act have changed the way individuals view access to healthcare.  For instance, there is an increased number of insured Americans which is attributed to an increase in payment to rural healthcare providers (Lee, 2014). Besides, it has substantially escalated admittance to care for those individuals who gained coverage.

In conclusion, the affordable care act has significantly improved the state of healthcare in the United States. Provisions of the act such as preventing institutions offering healthcare covers to children with existing therapeutic situations has substantially reduced the number of Americans without healthcare covers.

information included in the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act”
Presently, the United States is a fragmented system that offers a misdistribution of “haves” and “have nots”
which impact the cost of delivering health care. The United States is currently a nation of overinsured,
underinsured, and uninsured people. In light of the passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), how do you see
these issues being corrected so that a majority of the population has access to quality health care? In an initial
post of 250-300 words, communicate the relevant aspects of the ACA that will impact these issues. Analyze
and describe how the role of public policy will affect changes in this distribution. Evaluate and explain some of
the social-cultural issues that might present potential problems as this plays out across the country. What
implications associated with the ACA might lead to a paradigm shift in the ways in which we view access to
health care?
