Module 1 Recording Welcome to Community health nursing 2. Possibly I had some of you in community health nursing 1, so this is a continuation of that course. Make sure you look each week recording because I will be posting some hints each week that will help you in your community project assignment. The project will take the whole eight weeks at the course complete. The first thing is to identify what you want to focus on. The project should be primary prevention focus. Think back at your community health nursing 1 and your community assessment, what are some of the needs that you might have identify from windshield survey or through informant interview. What are some that maybe area of opportunity in your community. You want to choose a particular community group. It is very important that this project is focus in a group in the community. This is not meant to be in a hospital or in clinic setting. It is not meant to be a presentation for healthcare provider or nurses, nurse aide that type of thing here and it not meant to be a presentation on population that is experiencing an illness such as how to manage diabetes that is not the focus for this. This truly means community focus and focus on primary prevention. So, the first week you simply need to identify what your focus is and where you intend to carry out your project. You write out in written documents your first assignment. You may present your permission slip later when signed. Example of projects done in the past. 1. Hand hygiene for grade school students 2. Fall prevention with elderly population 3. Church group given presentation on cardiac health, healthy diets and exercises, in the hope of preventing cardiac disease or preventing stroke these are all good ideas. Hopefully you are going to find something you are passionate about. Keep in mind that the scope need to be kind of small, example, goals will not be reduce stroke in the community over the next five years. These are not feasible within next week of the course. Make goals to be something achievable under eight weeks of this course.
