This study will delve into a cute pain management in post operation as the clinical issue. Mostly, effective pain relief is the most valuable consideration for patients set for operation. Essentially, patients tend to experience severe trauma due to surgical intentions. This situation is exacerbated with severe pain arising from tissue injuries and bleeds. As such, failure to effectively address the tissue injuries and bleedings may cause shock to patients, which may eventually lead to death. The postoperative patients may be subjected to various analgesics to assist in the process of healing. For instance, non-steroidal ant-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which are given through intramuscular (IM) injections or intravenous (IV) injections can be effective in postoperative patients’ pain management.

On that note, ketorolac tromethamine is regarded as a component of NSAIDs that works well in managing acute pain (Kotagal et al., 2016). This medication is authorized in the US and Europe to be used in managing the moderate-to-severe acute pain after the surgery. However, despite the restriction on the use of the medication in managing other causes of pain, many tend to use the drug for off-label pain. The medication is effective over other opiates because it results in less severe side effects in the context of moderate and severe pain following an operation (Kotagal et al., 2016). However, the ketorolac related side effects may cause contraindications of the drug. Patients presenting with increased anticoagulant, serious bleeding, and asthma are advised to avoid the ketorolac medication. Therefore, it is imperative for the clinicians to have a complete patient’s health profile prior to prescription of ketorolac to address medication errors emanating from wrong prescription.
