Handwashing Protocol in Health Discussion

Handwashing Protocol in Health Discussion

Prepare this assignment as a 1,500-1,750 word paper using the instructor feedback from the previous course assignments and the guidelines below.

PICOT Question

Revise the PICOT question you wrote in the Topic 1 assignment using the feedback you received from your instructor.

The final PICOT question will provide a framework for your capstone project (the project students must complete during their final course in the RN-BSN program of study).

Research Critiques

In the Topic 2 and Topic 3 assignments, you completed a qualitative and quantitative research critique on two articles for each type of study (4 articles total). Use the feedback you received from your instructor on these assignments to finalize the critical analysis of each study by making appropriate revisions.

The completed analysis should connect to your identified practice problem of interest that is the basis for your PICOT question.

Refer to “Research Critiques and PICOT Guidelines – Final Draft.” Questions under each heading should be addressed as a narrative in the structure of a formal paper.

Proposed Evidence-Based Practice Change

Discuss the link between the PICOT question, the research articles, and the nursing practice problem you identified. Include relevant details and supporting explanation and use that information to propose evidence-based practice changes.

General Requirements

Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

Literature Evaluation Table Student Name: Summary of Clinical Issue (200-250 words): Healthcare workers use their hands more often than not in the process of tending to patients. Failure by most healthcare providers to adhere to hand cleaning routines has been the main driver behind the contraction and spread of preventable infections acquired in hospital settings. As a result, the spread of infections acquired in hospitals has long been associated with healthcare providers. Also, it has been cited that the concept of keeping clean hands has never been taken with much seriousness it deserves, especially among healthcare workers. Yet, most infections associated with healthcare provision are transmitted by hand. The benefits of keeping clean hands are that it has been purported to cut down hospital-related infections by over 25%. Other benefits of championing hand hygiene initiatives are that it substantially cuts down the rates of hospital-acquired infections. Sanitized hands lessen the rate of disease pathogens transmitted from one patient to another by the health workers. Besides, hand hygiene has been stated to cut down by 1%. Therefore, as a way of reducing hospital-acquired infections and preventing the further spread of infections, hand hygiene plays a major role. Being able to prevent diseases and infections would also have an economic impact as it would reduce the costs of medicine resulting from hospital-acquired infections. The paper provides an integrated qualitative report on the compliance of hand hygiene, which is in line with the PICOT question. The article takes on a review of qualitative literature done on the topic of hand hygiene and hospital-acquired infections among healthcare workers. Quantitative, Qualitative (How do you know?) Purpose Statement Qualitative conducts an analysis of previously conducted qualitative researches. Use secondary qualitative data to determine trends in hand hygiene among healthcare workers. The researcher uses qualitative research to takes on a review of the qualitative literature. To conduct a review of the qualitative literature, something other researchers have not been doing. Research Question What are the compliance trends with regard to hand hygiene among healthcare workers? It was found out that healthcare workers have access to knowledge about handwashing; however, the limitations rang from lack of resource support, and individual/subjective criteria influence hand hygiene too. Data based from database searches of 36 qualitative reports worldwide about hand hygiene compliance among healthcare workers. Used 36 reports in which authors conducted qualitative or mixed methods research on hand hygiene compliance among healthcare workers How are the compliance statistics among healthcare workers concerning hand hygiene It was found out that perception of the work environment and motivational factors influence health care workers’ compliance with hand hygiene guidelines Outcome Setting (Where did the study take place?) Sample Study based on review of 10 accurately selected studies carried out in hospitals in USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Netherlands and Taiwan A sample size of 10 articles was selected from the initial 25 articles picked for the research. 4 The articles follow a qualitative literature review to find out an evidence-based recommendation on optimal interventions for implementation of hand hygiene programs. Qualitative, it takes on a review of the qualitative literature. Handwashing Protocol in Health Discussion
To use a literature review in providing evidence-based recommendations on optimal interventions for implementation. What is the best hand hygiene compliance means attainable through literature review? Among the assessed bundle most common interventions were education, reminders, feedback Data from the Intensive Care Unit and Acute care units were used. Out of 8148 articles used, 65 reviewed in detail, and 46 studies were included Method database searches were used to collect secondary qualitative data. Data was analyzed Key Findings of It was found out that healthcare the Study workers have access to knowledge about handwashing; however, the lack of resources to support handwashing initiatives is a limitation. Recommendations The researchers recommend of the Researcher consistency with qualitative research reporting among researchers to enhance future qualitative research. a systematic review of the qualitative literature Motivational factors and work environment influence levels of compliance of healthcare workers. The researchers recommend that further exploring the theories that underpin the work environment and behavioral motivation will provide a better understanding of factors that influence hand hygiene compliance 5 Use of secondary data retrieved from searches and a meta-analysis approach was used. education, reminders, and feedback were important interventions found out The study recommends the use of a systematic review to provide better-bundled interventions to improve hand hygiene compliance Research Critiques and PICOT Question Guidelines – Final Draft Use this document to organize the content from your four studies into your final draft.
