HIST 410N WEEK 8: LOOKING AHEAD – Read the article entitled “Strategic Collaboration: How the United States Can Thrive as Other Powers Rise.”  Do you agree with the authors’ assertions that the United States needs to engage certain powers to remain safe from present-day dangers?  Elaborate.

HIST 410N WEEK 8: LOOKING AHEAD Instructions:

Class, although you are not required to respond to this discussion topic, I welcome any thoughts you might have about the future of the United States. We have covered a broad range of contemporary history events over the last seven weeks. It’s time to speculate on all these events and how it will impact the United States today and in the future. Can the United States continue to thrive in a global world where other powers are rising? Why or why not? What role will China and Russia play in global events?

The author mentions the six super powers of the world, United States, India, Japan, Russia, the EU, and China.  A lot of what he is saying does makes sense, that we should try to engage with certain countries to help keep us safe, and in return, help keep them safe also.  There are so many dangers from terrorist in other countries, and terrorist right here in the United States.  I think we all can use all the help that we can get to keep each other safe, and live in a world that is as peaceful as it can be.  Just think about when there is a terrorist attack or natural disaster even in another country, it is hard on everyone, and everyone tries to help in many different ways.
