  • Did it surprise you that these were your top three? Please explain why you were or were not surprised at this.
  • What, if anything, did you learn about yourself through this activity.
  • How can you use your values to your benefit as a healthcare provider?
  • As a healthcare provider you will encounter others with values that differ from your own, how can you provide the best care possible to individuals that have different values than your own?
  • How can you apply what you have learned about your personal values to your work as a healthcare provider.
  • Also- please write a sentence providing feedback about this assignment. Did you find it to be a worthy learning experience, what if anything could be changed to make it more educational or beneficial?

2.Chapter 4 Discussion: 6 points

Prior to completing this discussion be sure to read Chapter 4 of the text Patient Practitioner Interaction as you will be required to cite the text in your discussion.

Ethics are in my opinion essential to the ability of an individual to provide quality healthcare to a patient. As pointed out in the text, it takes more than simply knowing about what ethical behavior is to be ethical in practice. A practitioner must also have moral motivation and moral character in order to have a strong ethical base (Davis & musolino, 2016). The text describes several theories and models for understanding ethics and the ethical decision making process. The following are described in the text:

  • Teleogical View
  • Duty-Oriented Ethics
  • Nondiscursive Ethics
  • Virtue Ethics
  • The Ethic of Care

Examine each of these models and answer the following in your discussion:

  • Which model most lines up with how you make ethical decisions. Explain why and provide a brief summary of the model you selected.
  • Contrast the model you selected with the other models.
  • What are the pros and cons of the model you selected.
  • Lastly, explain in your own words why it is important for healthcare providers to study ethics.

Code of Ethics Examination

For this Hands on Learning Activity you will need to find the code of ethics that is associated with the profession that you are practicing within or planning to practice within. Read through the code of ethics in its entirety.

You may think that ethics are a given that everyone follows in healthcare because anyone that goes into health care just wants to help people right? WRONG! Amazingly enough, unethical behavior is all too common in healthcare. Read the following article that was in the Lincoln Journal Star for one example of unethical behavior that is all to common in healthcare:

Additionally, there are a lot of grey areas in healthcare and you may be faced with difficult decisions regarding the “right” thing to do. Knowing your profession’s code of ethics can help you to determine the answers to those difficult questions. After you have read through the linked article and your professional code of ethics please complete the following.

Write a one to two page paper that addresses the following:

  • What if anything did you learn about your professions’ code of ethics?
  • How can you use this code to guide your practice within your role as a healthcare provider.
  • Does the code of ethics provide guidance that you will need in making difficult decisions as a healthcare provider?
  • How can situations such as the one described in the article be avoided?
  • What is the risk to patients when situations like the one described in the article take place?
  • What have you learned about ethics and professional practice through this activity. How does this apply to healthcare practice?
  • Also- please write a sentence providing feedback about this assignment. Did you find it to be a worthy learning experience, what if anything could be changed to make it more educational or beneficial? Interpersonal Relations in Healthcare

Also, in addition to your 1 to 2 page paper please either send me a web link to the code or cut and paste the code into a word document and submit this.
