I spent my time disseminating information about my evidence-based project. I spent this week discussing the significance of disseminating information about the patient-environment occupation model framework of caring for dementia patients. I used my knowledge and skills on population health concerns to identify the components of the patientenvironment framework model and then identify the key patient demographics that constitute the interaction between these components of the patient-environment. Using the population health concern, I built my evidence-based research to ensure that it meets the criteria for publication so that it be implemented as a new paradigm of health policies on dementia care. I also spent this week evaluating the effectiveness of my PICOT project to ensure that I meet the quality standards outlined in the course requirement. I learned that emphasizing my research project’s quality would enable me to explore different options and alternatives to make the research work admissible before the ethics board. I also used the skills and knowledge I learned about the role of technology in improving healthcare outcomes to ensure that the proposed patient-environment occupational model framework covers all geographical locations and practice settings. As I completed week seven, I learned that my research would be limited to the patient-environment care model and how it improves the health of dementia patients. I realized that this is an independent variable that causes a causal effect on the mental health status of the elderly population. My strength is that I used knowledge to overcome my fear of anxiety to enable me to discharge my duties and roles in the inter-professional team. During this week, I discovered that although there could be statistical significance between the patent-centered environment and the outcome of an intervention, there may not always be clinical significance between the intervention itself and the patient-centered environment. My strength during this course is that I was able to relate to how the patient-centered environment is not possible for all elderly populations due to health disparities in certain locations. My weakness is that I could not understand the statistical significance of the health disparity to the outcome of the patient-centered environment intervention measure. An additional resource that could be introduced in the patient-centered environment to influence the optimal outcomes is to alter the geographical locations of the elderly patients. I believe that altering the geographical location will help researchers clearly understand the statistical significance of the two variables. The sixth week was unique because I gained insights and knowledge on the need to ensure that the care for patients upholds the integrity of human dignity. Even though in the initial stages of my course work, I faced several difficulties while trying to understand how a person-environment match helps residents to engage in more prosocial attitudes within two months while those who do not get the intervention. Whenever I faced difficulty engaging with various stakeholders in my research, I remembered the skills and knowledge of utilizing leadership and economic models to ensure that I brought all the stakeholders on board. I realized that through leadership, I can incorporate economic models to understand how the person-environment occupation and interaction between dementia patients and other social factors affect their health and well-being. At this point, I could conduct a proper pricing survey to understand the cost of establishing a conducive patientenvironment model of dementia care. I strongly believe that I spent this week well and gained enough insight, which helped me move the project to the next level.
