Personal Development Strengths and Opportunities for Improvement Discussion

Review your classmates’ posts and respond to at least two of your peers by Day 7. Each peer response should be a minimum of 50 words. Review your classmates’ Week 3 PowerPoint presentations found through their Folio links and address the following:

  • Recommend at least one additional strategy, tool, or resource you observed in the SSC that your peers did not mention that might be helpful to your peers and briefly describe the potential benefit.

If you notice a classmate is struggling with something that you can help with, use your responses to support them. Helping your classmates will not only benefit them, but it will also help to solidify your own knowledge.

Copied week 3 assignment to this.
Jill-

Our Week 3 Assignment was a little bit difficult for me. I found that the Student Services Center has a wide variety of tools available to aid me in overcoming some areas of opportunities. Several aspects will also assist me in continuing to develop my strengths. Overall, I found it to be a beneficial resource and will utilize it frequently as I work through my degree program!

The challenge for me was targeting the three resources from the Student Services Center that would assist in overcoming the challenges I specifically outlined in the Week 2 Assignment. In a review of my Week 2 Assignment, my areas of opportunity were working on accepting constructive criticism, focus and engagement, and flexibility. I wasn’t sure any of the areas of opportunities that I had outlined fit in the mold of one specific resource. If my area of opportunity were that I needed to improve my writing skills, Grammarly or the Writing Center would have been an easy pick for a resource. My areas of opportunity and the corresponding resources weren’t as immediately apparent. I considered picking areas of improvement that were easier to find solutions for, but I knew that wouldn’t benefit me long term. For example, I wasn’t sure how any of the Student Services Center resources were going to help me learn to accept constructive criticism. The more I thought about it, what will help me to be able to take constructive criticism is to build a trusted and respected relationship with my professors and my Ashford support team. It was then clear that the Ashford Contacts would help me with this area of opportunity because it gives me easy access to all of the contact information needed to reach out to solicit that feedback. Also, when working on my Week 3 Discussion Forum 1 post, I had trouble posting the link to my Week 2 Assignment. I was anxious, running out of time in my study schedule, and getting stressed! I’m not flexible when things don’t go as planned and I get frustrated easily! However, in the Student Services Center, the Tech Support resource is readily available and easily accessible. I was able to work with Tech Support quickly to solve the issue and get my link posted. Knowing that I have Tech Support available when technology isn’t working as planned and throwing off my schedule puts my mind at ease. I know that when issues come up, I have resources available to help, and I can be more flexible. As a result of digging a little deeper into the resources available, I was able to identify how each support tool can help me reach my specific goals. Moving forward, I plan to use the experience from this assignment to push me to tackle the hard things that stand between me and my success. Taking the easy route will never be the most rewarding or beneficial.

While I identified the resources I found most helpful for my needs; I would like your feedback on other available resources in the SSC or elsewhere that you think might benefit me and help me become even more flexible. My First Use Sequence score drives me to plan, and then it’s hard for me to deviate from my initial plan. Personal Development Strengths and Opportunities for Improvement Discussion

I’ll approach my Personal Development Plan final project, as well as future assignments, differently by thinking outside of the box like I had to for this assignment. There isn’t going to be one set way for us to use the SSC or other mechanisms for assistance. We should utilize the tools we have available where they fit for each of us to help overcome our areas of weakness. Sometimes that is taking it a step further and identifying a specific need to help you overcome that weakness.

Hello Class,

As we approach week 4, things have been moving in the right direction for me. What I been doing differently from when I started is creating a timeline of priorities from start to finish. I also started to visualize task that needs to be done, so I’d print out things due for this week academically and work-based, to have always available to look. I’ll post them on the wall, fridge, and closet door. Creating visual reminders has kept me right on track. Saturday was a massive day for me at work, finishing 1st place in sales in the market. We had the most activations and the best traffic conversion. Numbers like this show real leadership because this was also one of the most laidback days. I was able to use my Sequence patterns along with my Precision to detail a plan for the day. I had the whole morning set up, even including what time they were going on break.

I was able to have packages for each sales associate to present when they encounter a point of sale. I was able to remind them about current sales and have a quick connect about any updates or changes. My morning was completely set until a rep asked for a suggestion, asked to do things differently. Usually ill have the bundle created for them, which includes tablets, accessories, and charging cords safely stored in the back. Fabio asked if we can allow each rep to be responsible for their bundle but to have it on the sales floor rather than go out and look for it. This change tested my learning patterns because I’m used to having things done a certain way, but I’m always open to suggestions. So I compromised and said rather than each of you having each bundle out on the sales floor, let’s leave out three out of five packages so we can manage precautions more. We all agreed on this one small change that was drastic for me. This change had me nervous because a lot can go wrong here: lost inventory and time checking to ensure it’s safe. Because of this change, we broke the record and had a large number of sales. Learning about my reps caused me to be open-minded and trusting about how they do things differently. Learning about my patterns also made me interested in how others learn and their ideas. I was able to use my Sequence and Precision thinking, along with Fabio Technical reasoning learning pattern, to make a historic day. The feedback I would ask for from my classmates is to ask for help, what are ways you ask for help? In this case, I didn’t ask for help, but a suggestion was made, and I accommodated my plans to fit in a new technique. Since I didn’t ask for help but managed to fit in this idea that was a success, would you consider this was asking for help? This is an opportunity for me because I usually carry a load before ill ask for someone for help. Reflecting on my areas of opportunities prepares me for my week five final project by creating an action plan. Identifying my learning patterns and others helps because it’s starting to impact my work life. I can use people’s suggestions to my advantage.
